ACQUIRE POWER THROUGH SELF DEVELOPMENT
Happiness is that the normal condition, as natural because of the landscapes and therefore the seasons. it's unnatural to suffer and it's only due to our ignorance that we do suffer.
Happiness is that the product of wisdom. to realize perfect wisdom, to grasp fully the aim of life, to appreciate completely the link of personalities to every other, is to place an end to any or all suffering, to flee every ill and evil that afflicts us. Perfect wisdom is unshadowed joy.
Why can we suffer in life? Because within the scheme of nature we are being forced forward in evolution and that we lack the spiritual illumination that alone can light the way and enable us to maneuver safely among the obstacles that lie before us.
Usually, we don't even see or suspect the presence of trouble until it suddenly leaps upon us sort of a concealed tiger. sooner or later our peanut gallery is complete and happy.
per week later death has come and gone and joy is replaced with agony.
Today we have a lover. Tomorrow he is going to be an enemy and that we don't know why. a bit while ago we had wealth and every one material luxury.
There was a sudden change and now we've only poverty and misery and yet we seek vainly for a reason why this could be.
There was a time once we had health and strength, but they need both departed and no trace of a reason appears. other than these greater tragedies of life innumerable things of lesser consequence continually wake us little miseries and minor heartaches.
We most earnestly desire to avoid them but we never see them until they strike us, until within the darkness of our ignorance we blunder upon them.
The thing we lack is that the spiritual illumination which will enable us to appear far and wide, finding the hidden causes of human suffering and revealing the strategy by which they'll be avoided; and if we will but reach illumination the evolutionary journey are often made both comfortably and swiftly. it's as if we must labor under an extended, dark room crammed with furniture promiscuously scattered about. within the darkness, our progress would be slow and painful and our bruises many.
But if we could press a button that may activate the electrical light we could then make the identical journey quickly and with perfect safety and luxury.
The old method of education was to store the mind with as many facts, or supposed facts, as may be accumulated and to allow a specific exterior polish to the personality. the speculation was that when a person was born he was an entire soul which all that might be in serious trouble him was to load him up with information that might be used with more or less skill, consistent with the native ability he happened to turn with.
The theosophical idea is that the physical man, and everyone that constitutes his life within the physical world, is but a partial expression of the self; that within the ego of every there's practically unlimited power and wisdom; that these are also brought through into expression within the physical world because the material body and its invisible counterparts, which together constitute the complex vehicle of the ego's manifestation, are evolved and adapted to the purpose; which within the exact proportion that conscious effort is given to such self-development will spiritual illumination be achieved and wisdom attained.
Thus the sunshine that results in happiness is kindled from within and therefore the evolutionary journey that each one is making could also be robbed of its suffering.
Why does death bring misery?
Chiefly because it separates us from those we love. the sole other reason why death brings grief or fear is that we don't are aware of it and comprehend the part it plays in human evolution.
But the instant our ignorance gives thanks to comprehension such fear vanishes and a serene happiness takes its place.
Why can we have enemies from whose words or acts we suffer?
Because in our limited physical consciousness we don't perceive the unity of all life and realize that our wrong thinking and doing must react upon us through people a situation from which there's no possible escape except through ceasing to think evil so patiently awaiting the time when the causes we've got already generated are fully exhausted.
When spiritual illumination comes, and that we do not stumble within the night of ignorance, the last enemy will disappear and that we shall make no more forever.
Why do people suffer from poverty and disease?
Only due to the blundering ignorance that creates their existence possible for us, and since we don't comprehend their meaning and their lessons, nor know the attitude to assume toward them.
Had we but the wisdom to know why they are available to people, why they're necessary factors in their evolution, they'd trouble us now not.
When nature's lesson is fully learned these mute teachers will vanish. And so it's with all sorts of suffering we experience. they're without delay reactions from our ignorant blunderings and instructors that time out the higher way. after we have comprehended the teachings they teach they're now not necessary and disappear. it's not by the outward acquirement of facts that men become wise and great. it's by developing the soul from within until it illuminates the brain therewith flood of sunshine called a genius.
