Dogs Who Love Their Human Babies Like Their Own
Every parent wants the same thing for their child — to be happy, healthy and to know that they’re loved. Sure, in this instance, the parents in question have four legs, fur and a staggering inability to resist that last dinner roll that you left out on the counter. Also, the babies are human. But the sentiment remains the same! Species differences aside, those who view themselves in a parental position wish their charges only the best of things.
Dogs are pretty well known for feeling like the babies in their lives are theirs to look after. For example, did you know that pit bulls were once referred to as the “nanny breed?” This behavior has roots in a dog’s desire to please and their understanding that they belong to a family unit or “pack.” They observe the nurturing behaviors in us to love and care for this little being, and they instinctively want to be a part of it, usually creating priceless moments of bonding in the process that last a lifetime.
Call it over-protective, Doggie Daddy isn’t compromising on minimizing germ exposure
A wise dog parent knows to sleep when the baby sleeps…
…Even if that means becoming the bed themselves.
“No sweetie, like this, get your hind legs into it. You can do it!”
“Shhh, it’s okay. I’m here now.”
“Here you go. You’re all bald and vulnerable, we’ve gotta keep you warm.”
They stay on top of all hygiene needs.
“Bill, grab the keys. If this doesn’t work it looks like we’re driving circles around the block again.”
They’re not above public displays of affection toward their favorite miniature humans.
An outing to the park is always a highlight, as long as Emma and her chihuahua don’t hog the slide again. Words will need to be had if those shenanigans persist.
Playing dress up together is a must.
When it comes to the unconditional love thing, they’ve pretty much nailed it.
